Becoming a myth seems wrong because it is a retreat from reality. But, is it? However, the reality that you live in was created through years of unconscious choices; therefore, rapid transformation must begin with the realization of the unconscious, and regaining your power over it. This isn’t a concept that’s new to me, I enjoy facilitating massive, rapid change in my life, especially when it seems well overdue. I will share a few ways and reasons I’ve completely detached from places and people (and more), all in the name of personal growth and peace of mind. The results are life-altering and more than worth it, because you’re worth it.

Why Do I Do It?
I observe my life through phases or eras. As a child, I was obedient. In school, I was popular but entirely too nice. As a young adult, I began to realize how my childhood and environment influenced me to be a people pleaser. I was living life full of mediocrity in the name of making my family proud, coworkers comfortable, and I was not happy..at all. When I feel limited, redundant, or bored with life I know it’s time for major change. I want more than anything to live life freely and have fulfillment in my life. Part of that, is being comfortable with change; even when that change may be uncomfortable initially.
How I Do It
Distance, self-inquiry, and a touch of mystery.
Questions I love asking myself :
Who am I becoming?
Does my life (habits, environment, friends,) reflect this goal?
What can I change or improve today that puts me ‘’in the mood’’ of my desires?
Distance yourself from anyone who doesn’t fully support your growth. It may be awkward or a little scary to cut off communication with someone you’re used to leaning on, but that’s simply a codependency issue you need to heal (I’ve had to so too).
Practice privacy. Detaching doesn’t always have to mean cutting off indefinitely. Being incredibly real with yourself, and applying the necessary changes is the method; to bring the unconscious to the conscious and decipher what’s useful by holding yourself accountable for your present, and your future.
So many people in my past have not seen or heard from me since I was in the era I left them in; becoming the myth. I’ve written for a magazine where the editors didn’t know I modeled until they saw a commercial of me. I love keeping some mystery about myself even in the middle of a growth phase. Not everyone you meet or work with needs to know the bearings of your soul; And being a wide open book to everyone makes you look desperate (I love you though).

To Conclude
I believe detaching is not only necessary, but a natural part of personal advancement. It’s synonymous with setting goals and seeing them materialize. Detachment will help you grow and mold your character, and help you realize what you need to change in order to experience newness. As always, this was a somewhat personal post on how I personally achieve new levels, and I hope there’s some value here for you. I’d also like to mention a book that has helped me gain the mindset and the methods to manage desired change in my life: “Existential Kink” by Dr. Carolyn Elliott. * Disclosure, this book is for mature audiences. She has step-by-step methods and meditations that help you realize how you can rapidly transform yourself and your life. I love referring to her teachings every few months, and would love to know how it helps you.
